Issue Solved

I had redefined the defaults in the .h and .cpp files.

it should look like this in the .cpp file

IO_Edit::IO_Edit(char* str, int row, int col, int fieldlen,
int maxdatalen, int* insertmode,
bool framed, const char* frameChars)
